Classic Dill Pickles

A simple classic recipe. Start with the basic and feel free to experiment with other spices like mustard seeds, chili flakes, etc.

Yield: 1 jar


  • 1 Lb Pickling Cucumbers
  • 1 1/4 Cup Distilled white Vinegar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 4 Cloves Garlic (crushed and peeled)
  • 3 Tbs Sugar
  • 2 Tsp Kosher Salt
  • 3 Sprigs Dill


  1. In a small pot combine vinegar, water, garlic, sugar and kosher salt. Heat on medium until sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally. 
  2. Quarter cucumbers lengthwise, or slice into 1/8 inch slivers.
  3. Arrange cucumbers and 3 sprigs of dill in one 32oz Mason jar (or two smaller jars). 
  4. Pour warm brine over cucumbers to cover. Let cool.
  5. Lid and refrigerate at least four hours or up to two weeks.
